How this is found
Everything on this page is computed from COMEX silver futures (front month, SI=F) daily candles from Yahoo Finance — 2,640 daily candles back to May 3, 2016 — with fixed rules, so the same chart always gives the same lines. Swings are the turning points where the price reversed by more than about 1.2 times its typical range (ATR 14; now $1.36 a day, 2.7% of the price). Support and resistance are prices where two or more swings ended within half an ATR of each other over the past year (five years on the weekly chart). Trend lines need three swings on the line and no close through it in between. Patterns are tested on the last five or six swings: the highs and the lows each have to sit on a straight line, the closes have to stay between the lines, and the shape has to be wide enough to matter. A break is the first close beyond a line by more than a quarter to half an ATR.
Chart patterns describe how traders have pushed the price around, not what comes next: many breaks fail, and the same rules applied a week later can draw different lines. For the long view see the silver trend bands, the futures positioning (COT) and what the price did after Fed decisions.
Silver Technical Analysis: FAQ
What does the silver chart show today?
On the daily chart, silver is in a downtrend: the price is below its 50-day average, which is below the 200-day, and the 200-day average is falling (50-day $61.34, 200-day $70.67). On the weekly chart it is pulling back within a longer uptrend: below its 50-week average but still above the 200-week. The 14-day RSI is 28 — oversold (30 or less). The nearest support is $48.89 (turned the price 3 times since Nov 18, 2025), and the nearest resistance is $54.61 (turned the price twice since Nov 13, 2025, as both support and resistance).
Where are support and resistance for silver?
The nearest support is $48.89 (turned the price 3 times since Nov 18, 2025); the nearest resistance is $54.61 (turned the price twice since Nov 13, 2025, as both support and resistance). The table on this page lists the next levels on the daily and weekly charts.
How are the levels, trend lines and patterns found?
By a program, the same way every time, so nobody picks the lines that fit a story. Swing highs and lows are the turning points where the price reversed by more than about 1.2 times its typical daily range (the 14-day ATR). Support and resistance are prices where two or more swings ended within half an ATR of each other — and we drop any level that closes crossed back and forth too often. Trend lines run through three or more swing highs or lows with no close through the line in between. Triangles, wedges, channels and ranges come from straight lines through the last five or six swings; double tops and bottoms and head-and-shoulders shapes need the peaks within about one ATR of each other and a clear dip between them. Weak shapes are left out rather than shown.
What are RSI, MACD and Bollinger bands?
RSI (relative strength index) compares the size of recent up days with down days on a 0–100 scale; 70 and above is called overbought and 30 and below oversold. MACD is the gap between the 12- and 26-day exponential moving averages; its signal line is a 9-day average of that gap, and the histogram is the difference. Bollinger bands sit two standard deviations above and below the 20-day average, so they widen when prices swing more and narrow when markets are quiet.
What is a golden cross or a death cross?
A golden cross is when the 50-day moving average rises above the 200-day; a death cross is the opposite. The last one on the silver daily chart was a death cross on Jul 16, 2026. Both lag the price by weeks, which is why they mark changes in the longer trend rather than turning points.
Is this a forecast or a trading signal?
No. Technical analysis describes what the price has done; it does not predict what it will do, and patterns fail often. Nothing on this page is advice to buy or sell. Use it as a map of the levels many traders watch, alongside the news and fundamentals.
Why do the prices differ a little from the spot price?
The candles are COMEX silver futures (front month), because futures have a full open, high, low and close for every session. Futures usually trade a few dollars (often a few tenths of a dollar) away from spot, so a level here sits a similar distance from the same level on a spot chart.
How often is this updated?
The candles are refreshed every hour, and the analysis is recalculated each time. The latest candle (Nov 2, 2026) may still be in progress.
Technical analysis describes past prices. It is not a forecast, a price target or a recommendation, and nothing here is investment advice.
