What it's worth when you sell

First issued in 1997 in 958 silver. Since 2013 the 1 oz silver Britannia is struck in 999 silver with 1 troy oz of metal (minimum gross weight 31.1035 g). The Royal Mint says Britannia coins are UK legal tender and Capital Gains Tax exempt. HMRC's manual (CG78305) names only gold Britannias, so check silver treatment with an adviser.

Bullion coins sell at a premium over melt value (smaller sizes carry bigger premiums) and dealers buy them back at or a little under the spot value of their silver.
