Travelling with Silver to and from Oman
Oman sets no silver limit for travellers. Since 3 August 2026, personal effects and gifts are duty-free up to OMR 300 in total; above that, customs duty (generally 5%) and 5% VAT apply. Everyone arriving, leaving or in transit must declare cash, bearer instruments, precious metals and gemstones worth OMR 6,000 or more in total. Investment silver of at least 99% purity that is tradable on global bullion markets is zero-rated for VAT. These are the rules as of October 2026; check with Oman Customs before you travel.
